Reading Together At Pukete School

Reading Together was developed by Jeanne Biddulph of the Biddulph Education Trust as part of a research project for the University of Canterbury. The programme is used by many schools across New Zealand to assist with the teaching of reading. Reading Together is a series of workshops we offer to parents of children in their child’s first year at school. The programme is designed to teach parents how to help their child learn to read.

At Pukete School we offer the programme three times a year. The workshops take place over 4 weeks. Each session takes up to an hour and a half.

Comments  we have received from parents who have graduated from the programme have been

“My help has made my child a more confident reader.”

“She enjoyed the time spent together at the end of the evening.”

“It has helped our family read together.”
