Meet Kakapo Team

Kākāpō is the Year 4 syndicate. We are a multicultural team, with our teachers originating from Australia, South Africa and the UK. We work together closely, utilising the passion and strengths of the kaiako to provide a well rounded learning experience for our students. We look forward to having lots of fun and exciting adventures with our tamariki, including their first school camp.

Room 3 - Sarah Peers (Team Leader)

Miss Peers has worked in many areas of Pukete School before joining the Kākāpō Team in 2023.  Her many interests include The Arts, Swimming, and Travel, taking time to explore this beautiful country that she now calls home. Most Saturday mornings Sarah is cheering on one of her sports-mad children on the side of a football or hockey pitch. The class colour for Room 9 is Yellow.

Room 8 - rachel Brady

In akomanga 8 is Mrs Rachel Brady and her class of Year 4's. Rachel has worked for many years in the Kea team, however she is excited to join the Kākāpō team in 2024. She enjoys travelling, reading and fitness, which are all passions she tries to incorporate into the classroom. Rachel believes in creating a positive classroom atmosphere by encouraging everyone to do their best and support others.

Room 10 - Laura Casserly

Ms. Casserley is looking forward to another exciting year of teaching and learning with her colleagues and students in the Kākāpō Team. She loves being in the mountains on her bicycle, running along the Waikato river, or relaxing on the beach. Ms. Casserley has travelled to many places around the world and loves learning about and experiencing different cultures. She enjoys the cultural diversity in her classroom and encourages respect and kindness amongst her students.

Kakapo Teacher Release

Pip Herron

Kia Ora everyone. I work part-time on a Wednesday and Thursday in the Ruru and Kakapo team. I love teaching all areas of the curriculum but especially literacy where students can extend their vocabulary, articulate their language and develop a sense of creativeness through a corresponding art activity using a variety of textiles. In my spare time I love to go mountain biking with my son and partner in Rotorua as well as wakeboarding in a secret location (otherwise you’d all be there) over the summer months. I look forward to an exciting 2022.

Pip Crawshaw - Learning Support Coordinator  (LSC)

Pip is excited to take on the role of Learning Support Coordinator again this year. She is looking forward to working alongside family and whānau, teachers, learning assistants and the senior leadership team to support tamariki at Pukete School. Pip has worked across the school teaching in the Tui, Kiwi, Kea and Kākāpō teams and will also support with teacher release.

WHAEA RAE WARD - POU MĀORI & KAIAKO KĀHUI AKO

I am excited to take on the role of Pou Māori this year at Pukete School. As Pou Māori, I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment that honours and values Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori and also supports senior management, teachers, tamariki and their whānau. I am also enjoying working as an Across School Teacher for Te Pae Here Kāhui Ako on Thursdays and Fridays.
